Through real-world simulations and case studies, we learned to apply the design process to explore how research impacts the built environment and create a home based on a client's desires.
For this family of five, we were given the task of creating a home with three beds, two plus baths, and an open floor plan kitchen and living area with the durability to sustain their busy lifestyles and two dogs.
The programming work was given to us before we began, and we were told that Mrs. Saffer loves natural light, lots of color, and contemporary style. Her husband enjoys a cozy home and warm colors in contrast.
To showcase our ideas for the home and to the clients, we created multiple floorplans, adjacency matrix, bubble diagrams, 3D models, and boards.
For this group project, we were assigned a completed floorplan and told to make an RCP to match it using all the different types of lighting techniques. We had to collaborate with one another to make a cohesive project while also bringing out the best of everyone's different design styles.
The project included creating the RCP, lighting schedule, and digital poster with our design statement and logo.
