Part one of the Schematic Design was to create an adjacency matrix to establish spatial affinities that the Saffers both wanted and needed. This knowledge is the key to creating a functional floor plan.
Part two of the Schematic Design process was to take the adjacency matrix information and form a bubble diagram. The bubble diagram shows hiarchy of the size of spaces and their relation to one another in the home without giving away the shape or specific dimensions of the home.
The final part of the Schematic Design process was to take the bubble diagram and include more specific shape, size, and flow: the blocking diagram. In this diagram, we confirm the shape and location of certain spaces without having figured out the dimensions yet. It is the framework for the floor plan.
The preliminary floor plan takes the blocking plan and turns it into an actual floor plan with dimensions, windows, doors, and other details. Changes will still be made after critics and more thought it poured into the project, but it gives the client an idea of what the home will look like.
After all critics and considerations are had, the corrections are made to the floor plan and the walls are filled in to show the final floor plan.
The 3D model as shown is on foam board and was crafted out of wood and glue. It is to a fourth inch scale and can be held or have scaled figures placed inside to test the space out and visualize it.
FF&E shows the client the furniture, finishes, and equipment being used in the home such as flooring, paint samples, tile, and more. I chose to only use key elements and label them for easy clarification and understanding.
The RCP was my portion of the project. In this portion, I placed all the lights in the home and showed the electric work for those lights and where the switches would be placed. There are eight different types of light fixtures throughout the home, and all in different types of locations that serve different purposes such as accent lighting, general lighting, and task lighting. The different light fixtures can be located by a letter and number for the schedule, and a symbol that is shown on the legend.
Based on the RCP above and the lettering used, the schedule shows the exact make, where to get it, and information regarding each light. This portion is for the electricians and homeowners.
The poster shows all our information from the project put together. In addition, our design statement shows our purpose for the project and why it is important to the client. The labels are large and easy to follow due to it's organization.
