Course Objectives
Students learn the fundamentals of technical drafting, lettering, line weights, terminology, symbols, and formatting of construction documents will be explored.
As the first assignment of drafting, we were instructed to work on our lettering skills. To do this we drew out multiple lines that were the guidelines to our lettering. Then, we used our scale and triangles to create the perfect letters. To practice, we wrote out letters, numbers, our names, and a verse.
For the second homework assignment, I learned that there are different pencils to reach different shades and how that works. To demonstrate this, I made 3 rows with the same amount of boxes in each row, getting darker with each box throughout the row. This showed that from 8H-8B it goes from lightest shades to darkest.
Once I understood that, I was able to continue to the next part of the assignment which was to learn how to use line weights and the appropriate pencils. There is a series of patterns that I drew using different line weights to show my understanding of how they work along with the different pencils.
For this assignment, I was to find two door types and a window type on Lowes or Menards website to draw out and use for the future house project that I would be working on for the remainder of the semester.
After I found my inspiration, I began drawing the doors and window. I used the correct line weights and was very intentional about drawing all the details to make it as realistic as possible. I then labeled the different parts of the door and window to show my knowledge.
For this assignment I created the stairs based on a picture given in class. The important areas of the assignment included that I understood how to draw stairs, understood the measurements and could demonstrate how to interpret a measurement based on only a few labeled. Additionally, I created the textures for materials within the blocks and concrete walls.
For this assignment I learned how to draw sections of walls and learned about the details within the wall. I also worked on my lettering and labeling.
This assignment's goal was to teach my about ADA compliance and to teach me how to keep that in mind when making floor plans. This is a floor plan of an ADA compliant bathroom, one for men and one for women. It shows where the turn around spots are and key highlights for making it compliant.
I then took the floor plan and created an elevation of the men's bathroom. It shows the tile, stalls, and ADA stall with rails.
Part one of Phase one for this residential project was the demolition plan. In the demolition plan I added Doors, windows, removed all kitchen appliances and cabinetry, and removed a closet.
After getting rid of all the kitchen and the closet, I added a new and better kitchen as well as a bigger closet for the washer and dryer to go into. Although it's not a normal part of the construction plan, we were told to go ahead and add all of our furniture as well, so it is shown. Additionally, since this is the construction plan, the walls are poched and the elevation tags are shown.
The reflected ceiling plan shows the lights, how they are connected, fans, switches, and wooden beams.
Elevations that are included are shown in the floor plan. They include both cabinet walls, and the island.
The section and details page shows my outlines and information regarding the crown molding, beams, and base wall and cabinets.
without including the wall, I drew out two of the doors included in this home as well as one window type.
For the Bound Set, this is the first page which shows information regarding the bound set and shows the family information.
