The goal of this project was to make a 10x10x10 foot playhouse based on a storybook theme. Our group chose to do Alice in Wonderland theme, so we began designing a cottage type idea on sketchup and came up with this.
Once we have the initial sketch, we put it into Lumion and began experimenting with materials, textures, and furniture all children friendly and sized. We first worked on the outside, using the dark colors of the movie with the iconic tile look, and combining that with unusual shapes.
Focusing on the inside, we used more easy to clean tile with the reoccurring red used in the movie and book. We went for a queen of hearts look on the walls and decided to include small details for kids to play with.
We also used fake trees to complete the look with a central chair.
On the right wall is a built in bench for seating as well as game play to use as the kids please. Additionally, we hung a low coat rack for children to place their belongings.
There is a desk for playing on as well as storage shelves for games, books, or toys and lots of natural light.
